Although at this point Leo Dorfman has yet to use the caption structure "In the next agonizing moment..." as heavily as he will in the Sixties, he's leading up to it with "Short moments later..."; these tiers are from his first issues of the respective titles below, with the stories "Vengeance Trail," "Last of the Buffalo," and "The Maverick."
Another Dorfman clue is variations of "Eeeyowww" and "Yowww," whereas Paul S. Newman mostly sticks to a succint "Oww!" In Binder's Broken Arrow issue we find an "Ukkk!"

According to the GCD, Cheyenne #7 was written by Newman, and confirmed by Newman's own records.
ReplyDeleteEven when I set myself to searching out the evidence of Newman's work on those two stories, I can't find it--I looked again just now. Up through #6, and from #12 on, invariably there are his typical "He-help" or "He-hey" and very often his ricocheting gunshots Zing! Ping!--but not an instance of such things in #7. So in this case I'll leave the post as is, and acknowledge here that the GCD's pass-along of Newman's records and my takeaway from the stories themselves arrive at opposite conclusions.
